I have a question regarding:

When you register for the class via our website, payment can be paid via PayNow or bank transfer.

PayNow: Sew Fun UEN Number 53250798C

Bank transfer: UOB Current Account 314-305-119-4 (Thomson Branch Code 007).

Please email your transaction receipt to asksewfun@gmail.com. Upon confirmation of your order, we will contact you via email to provide more information and confirm your seat in the class.

Yes, you can! We have two courses that are SkillsFuture Accredited (1) Beginner Sewing Class and (2) Beginner Sewing Class - Parenthood is Sew Fun.

Depending on how much SkillsFuture Credit you have in your account, you can claim up to $620. The full course fee is $670 = $620 (SkillsFuture claimable) + $50 (non-SkillsFuture claimable). $620 is for 10 lessons at 3 hours per lesson.

To secure your seat in class, you need to make a $50 payment for the tools, materials and administrative fees. When you sign up for our course on our website, we will email you the steps on how you can claim with your SkillsFuture credits.

Registration closes the day before a class begins.

Your registration is confirmed upon receipt of full payment of class fees. A confirmation email will be sent to you upon payment.

General Class Queries

Our classes are held at two venues:

Sew Fun @ Sin Ming is located at 24 Sin Ming Lane #08-108 Midview City, Singapore 573970.

Sew Fun @ Commonwealth is located at Blk 115A Commonwealth Drive, #04-05, Tanglin Halt Industrial Estate, Singapore 149596

There are one to three instructors for each class and the typical class size is 7 to 18 students depending on venue. Safety distance and measures are implemented at our studios. Read here to find out more.

Please complete the form in our contact us page for us to update you when new classes open or ask us about the alternative to starting a new class. We can work with you to start a new class (subject to our teacher and venue availability) with a minimum requirement of 4 participants.

For our Foundation Sewing Class, you just need to bring yourself. All tools and materials are included.

For selected Beginner and Intermediate classes, you may be required to provide fabric. When you sign up for the class and have made payment for the class, you will receive an email which contains details of fabric requirements. Please check the spam box in case the email falls in there.

The studios have a no-shoes policy. You are welcome to BYO socks or indoor slippers to be comfortable. For hygiene reasons, please do bring them home with you after each lesson :)

To accommodate our participants' schedules, we allow participants to attend one makeup lesson if they need to miss a lesson. The makeup lesson must be attended within 6 months from the start date. Kindly inform our instructors beforehand if you need to arrange for a makeup lesson.
However, do note that the first lesson for the Foundation Sewing Class is compulsory because it prepares participants for all subsequent classes.

As someone with no sewing experience, you can begin your sewing journey by joining our Foundation Sewing Class. This class will cover all that you need to know in order to begin using a sewing machine confidently. In addition to sewing basics, we take detailed body measurements for future apparel projects. Instructors will take time to explain the basics and answer your queries to the best of their ability. We are heartened to say that our 'graduates' have overcome their fear of sewing, and some have gone on to attempt more difficult sewing projects or even start their own businesses.

Our Apparel sewing track is all about drafting clothes tailored to your body measurements. As someone with no sewing experience, you can begin your Apparel sewing journey with the Foundation Sewing Class to learn how to take body measurements as well as basic sewing skills, then you can embark on the Beginner Apparel course series and subsequently the Intermediate Apparel course series.

Our Bag Sewing track is all about sewing bags and pouches. As someone with no sewing experience, you can begin your journey with the Foundation Sewing Class to pick up basic sewing skills, then you can embark on the Beginner Bag Sewing course series and subsequently the Intermediate Bag Sewing course series.

Our Parenthood sewing track is a sweet combination of sewing things fit for a growing family like a wet bag, zippered shoe bag, backpack to clothes for twinning with little one and many more. As someone with no sewing experience, you can begin your journey with the Foundation Sewing Class to pick up basic sewing skills, then you can embark on the Beginner Parenthood course series and subsequently the Intermediate Parenthood course.

Please drop us an email at asksewfun@gmail.com to share with us what course you are interested in and we will assess on a case by case basis and help you curate a sewing journey that fits you best.

Prototyping & Consultancy

To realise an idea, see it in the flesh, and test it to understand if it works as imagined. This is the role proof-of-concept prototypes play.

Bridging prototypes exist to illustrate clearly to your manufacturer design elements and/or construction details that may not be easily explained using words, images, or diagrams. This is especially pertinent if you are a design or tech company making a complex fabric product. The ideal scenario is the provide the manufacturer with a technical pack and bridging prototype.

Developmental prototypes help get a product from cobbled together home-made prototype to ready for testing by consumers and manufacturing by a factory. On the average, it could take from as little as 2 to as many as 10 prototypes before a fabric product is ready for manufacturing. This iterative process can be sometimes costly, though necessary, especially for complex products. In all our developmental prototyping work, we always design with the manufacturing process in mind.

The amount of time needed and the cost depends on many factors, such as complexity of the fabric product, availability of chosen materials, availability of the right type of sewing machines, amongst others.

  • Are sketches/drawings with size and proportions available?
  • Initial test prototypes help greatly!
  • Samples of materials (specialised technical materials may need to be sourced, which could take 4-6 weeks depending on how far away they are)
  • Images of similar products or details as reference material

Kathleen at Fashion Incubator explains it the best. Find out here.
